Bullet Resistant Glass Clad Polycarbonate - Weather Resistant Protection from Protective Structures
Bullet resistant glass clad polycarbonate is our specialty at Protective Structures. Typically, bullet resistant glass clad polycarbonate is used where scratch resistance is a major concern or where the bullet resistant transparency will be facing the exterior of the building. Bullet resistant glass clad polycarbonate is much lighter than laminated glass and offers higher degree of protection with less weight.
Bullet resistant glass clad polycarbonate is a combination of various layers of glass, polycarbonate, PVB (Poly Vinylbutyral) and/or a ThermoPlastic Urethane (TPU). Typically, a thin layer of glass is used on the exterior ( threat side) surface to resist scratching or environmental effects. The interior (rear) face is always a polycarbonate layer with a scratch resistant coating. Polycarbonate is one of the toughest clear plastic products available, having nearly 250 times the impact strength of glass . Being a plastic, polycarbonate can flex and captures the bullet when fired upon. These various layers are bonded together and come as a single unit. All of our bullet resistant glass-clad products meet UL752 standards and are UL Listed for Levels 1 through 8.
Since bullet resistant laminated glass cannot be cut in the field, all bullet resistant laminated glass must be made to order. Typical lead-times for bullet resistant laminated glass are 6-8 weeks. Protective Structures is glad to offer you bullet resistant laminated glass as one of our many bullet resistant transparency solutions. Protective Structures can not only offer you a bullet resistant laminated glass window, we can also provide you with a bullet resistant capture frame as well. Our bullet resistant capture frames provide bullet resistance around the edge of your laminate where bullet resistance is at its weakest.
